Our Programs
New Family Meals
New Family Meals provide nourishing, homestyle meals or facilitated Meal Trains for families welcoming a new child through birth or adoption. This program supports parents during the physically and emotionally demanding early weeks of parenthood, allowing them to rest, recover, and focus on bonding.
Meals may be provided directly through Knitted Village volunteers or through a coordinated Meal Train shared on their personal social media, facilitated by Knitted Village. Priority may be given to families with additional needs, including NICU stays, complicated births, or limited support systems.
Parental Transition Meals
Parental Transition Meals provide nourishing meals to parents who are navigating the profound emotional and physical toll of separation from their child or children. This includes parents who have placed their child for adoption or have experienced the removal of their children from the home.
While circumstances differ, the need is shared: these parents are often processing grief, trauma, and exhaustion during a season when cooking, planning meals, and basic self-care can feel overwhelming. This program offers meals with the same intention as New Family Meals: to provide care, dignity, and space to breathe during a major life transition. Meals may be delivered directly or coordinated through a short-term Meal Train when appropriate and desired by the parent.
Foster Care Placement Meals
Foster Care Placement Meals support foster families during the critical first days of a new placement. When a child enters foster care or is placed in a new home, placements often happen with little notice, leaving families navigating immediate needs before benefits or stipends begin.
Knitted Village provides ready-to-eat meals, fresh or frozen, to help foster parents focus on creating stability, connection, and safety during this transition.
Respite Meals
Respite Meals provide predictable, regular meal support for families of individuals with special needs or caregivers providing ongoing care. This program recognizes the emotional and physical demands of caregiving and offers relief through reliable, nourishing meals.
Knitted Village provides meals delivered on a scheduled day. Families sign up prior to meals being delivered and are grouped into delivery routes based on location. Menus are shared in advance to support dietary needs.
Emergency Meals
Emergency meals provide short-term meal support for individuals and families experiencing sudden hardship or displacement. This may include medical crises, job loss, domestic emergencies, grief or loss, housing instability, or other unforeseen events. This program is designed to be flexible, fast, and compassionate, meeting people in moments when cooking or grocery shopping is not possible.
Project One More Gift
Project One More Gift is a seasonal and year-round gifting initiative that provides thoughtful gifts to children in families experiencing hardships or in foster care. Gifts may include holiday presents, birthday presents, comfort items, or practical necessities paired with personal touch. This program centers dignity, joy, and the belief that every child deserves to feel remembered and celebrated, especially during difficult seasons.
