Who We Are

At Knitted Village, our mission is simple: share kindness, build connection, and make sure no neighbor faces an empty table alone. 
 
We exist to serve people through all of life's challenges. Whether someone is navigating food insecurity or walking through a major life transition, we believe no one should feel alone. Our volunteers prepare and deliver meals to neighbors welcoming a new baby, adjusting to an adoption or foster care placement, grieving the loss of a loved one, or simply facing a hard day.
 
At our core, we are a group of people who want to make sure every table feels a little fuller, every burden feels a little lighter, and every neighbor feels seen and supported. Kindness doesn't have to be complicated. When we each offer what we can, we weave a stronger, more compassionate community.
 
Since our launch in October 2025, we have seen over 300 individuals served a hot, ready to eat meal through while SNAP Benefits were withheld and matched 50+ families with gifts for their children through Project One More Gift. 
 
Our community continues to grow each and every day, and we are so thankful that you want to build it with us.

Meet Sydney

Hello, and thanks so much for wanting to learn more about Knitted Village. I'd love for you to get to know me just a bit – I'm a wife, mom of 2, and the heart behind Knitted Village. I have been wanting to find a way to bridge the gap between those needing and those wanting to build community for years.
 
I’m so excited to continue building relationships and connecting neighbors in our community.

Meet Bayley

I am a born and raised Nebraskan who currently lives in Waverly with my husband, daughter and three cats. I am a journalist and news director for 10/11 News in Lincoln and have been reporting on the news in the Capital city for nearly a decade. Throughout this time, I've been exposed to both the magnitude of need in Lincoln and the willingness of the community to help their neighbors. My hope is with Knitted Village, I can help be a part of that safety net for those in need.
